Tonight is Earth Hour again and I ask you all to participate with me!
Earth Hour is an annual worldwide event organized by WWF. It began in Sydney 2007 with the aim of improving environmental awareness on the issue of global warming. Overtime it has grown into a global phenomenon with over 162 countries and 7000+ cities and towns worldwide participating.
This year Earth Hour in Australia is all about Aussie food and farmers. The effect of global warming on the Australian food industry is increasing, but show your support for the future of our Aussie home grown food industry by switching off for an hour from 8.30pm Saturday 28th March. By switching off as many electronic devices as possible (lights, phones, tv, computers etc) you are helping to conserve energy consumption and therefore reduce the impacts of global warming.
It may seem like a small contribution, but the more that participate the bigger the impact. Our combined efforts are not a silver bullet to the increasing issues of global warming and climate change, but they are an action to show we care and are genuinely interested in trying to help build a sustainable future.
So come on help make a difference!
